Here is a small checklist I follow if I start feel a little tingle in my throat possibly indicating an oncoming cold.
CHECKLIST...
1st Priority:
1-Sleep a full 8-hours with at least t-shirt and shorts
1-Very frequently wash hands
1-Socks on feet
1-Fresh air
1-A little exercise
1-Intake a lot of goldenseal & echinacea
1-Consume lots of water
1-Drink organic green tea
1-Take hot showers to inhale steam
1-Gargle warm saltwater
1-Vitamin C
1-Zinc
1-Air humidifier and/or purifier
1-Green juice
1-Eat at least 1,200 calorie breakfast and early. Example: Raisin Bran, OJ, toasted English muffin w/ peanut butter, and smoothie
2nd Priority:
2-Expose yourself to short-term stress: take on a small project, play a video game, or help a co-worker w/ a task (it should take no longer than a day or half a day).
2-Eat Chili
2-Chicken noodle or veggie-based soup
2-Amoxicillin
2-Mucinex
3rd Priority:
3-DayQuil
Avoid These:
X-Citrus fruits
X-Dairy - Maybe, from what I understand it takes dairy about two weeks to completely leave your system.
X-Simple sugars
X-Wheat
Regardless of what it was that got you sick, you should focus on getting better. Daily things attack our immune system and it's important to know how to combat it before or once it does take over.
Also, normally when we get sick it wasn't just one thing that got us sick. Normally it's an accumulation of things that have weakened our immune (foods, air quality, lack of sleep, stress, germs, water intake, etc.) system over a period of time. So now it's time to strengthen it back.
